HP releases its first web-connected printers for businesses

14 Sep 2010

HP launched its first web-connected printers for small businesses, adding to its HP Officejet portfolio. It also included the world’s first wide-print-format all-in-one device with web connectivity.

The new HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One series and the HP Officejet 7500A Wide Format e-All-in-One have HP ePrint technology, allowing users to print from any mobile device.

It can also print web content, such as templates and stored documents without a PC by using HP print apps.

“We are making web-connected printing the new industry standard – first for consumers, and now for small business,” said Gary Tierney, country manager for HP Image and Printing Group, Ireland.

“With the addition of HP ePrint technology and HP print apps to these new HP business inkjet printers, small businesses can significantly improve their productivity – both in the office and on the go.”

HP ePrint technology gives each printer a unique email address to allow for printing on the go without requiring drivers or software.

It uses anti-spam filters to protect customers from unwanted use and the address can be reset at any time. Customers can set up a “white list” to ensure only a preapproved list of emails can use it.

HP print apps are accessible from the touchscreen on the printer and range from Google Docs for easy document scanning, Box.net to scan and access content online and Biztree for access to business forms.

These apps will be made available over the next few weeks.
