Huawei Ascend Y 200 released on Three Ireland

26 Nov 2012

Huawei’s Ascend Y 200 is an affordable, entry-level smartphone running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm processor – and it’s also available now from Three Ireland.

The Ascend Y 200 features a 3.5-inch IPS touchscreen and 3.2MP camera that shoots video at 30fps. It claims a five-second boot speed and 90-minute charge time for its 1,250mAh battery.

Priced from €79.99 on prepay, the Ascend Y 200 has decent specifications for an entry-level device, while Huawei’s unique HAP 5.1 user interface aims to help smartphone novices navigate the device, allowing them to go directly to the home screen, address book, call function or camera from the unlock screen simply by moving their finger across the display to the icon.

Available in black exclusively from Three Ireland, this is the network’s first Huawei smartphone. However, it will face competition from the Sony Xperia Tipo, another low-cost smartphone with similar specs.
