iPad 2 to launch this month, release date for March

7 Feb 2011

Apple is getting ready to launch its next-generation iPad this month and will confirm a release date for the product for some point in March, according to rumours.

Apple normally confirms release dates for new products in January but with all the hoopla over Verizon taking on the iPhone 4, the company is likely to wait until after 10 February before making a formal announcement on the iPad 2.

Apple is understood to be holding an event next week to launch iOS 4.3 and many bloggers believe this could be the cover for an even greater revelation.

The new iPad is expected to come with front and rear cameras to enable video conferencing, as well as near field communications (NFC) capabilities which herald an exciting future for e-commerce.

Among the rumours going around is one where Apple has also been working on iPad 2 accessories with NFC compatibilities.
