Marvellous launches hospitality app at Silverstone

Interactive agency Marvellous has developed a fast-track ‘Guest Hospitality’ app, which it says is set to transform the events and hospitality industries.

The app will be launched this weekend when Formula One team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes uses it to check VIP guests in to its hospitality suites at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone.

Guests will receive an SMS inviting them to pre-register for the Grand Prix. They will then follow the link to download the app from the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes mobile site. The app provides each guest with a unique QR code, the weekend’s Formula One racing schedule, exclusive Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team content and an area guide featuring the coolest bars and places to go.

On arrival at Silverstone, guests will present their ticket in form of a QR code on the screen of their mobile phone. The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes hospitality team use Android-based Vodafone HTC Legend handsets to validate each code and check-in their guests.

Each guest will also be photographed with the HTC in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes pit lane to celebrate their weekend of hospitality with the current Formula One leaders.

Marvellous, which has offices in London, Amsterdam and London, designed and built the Guest Hospitality app with Android in mind. The Android platform gave us the opportunity to enhance the guest’s user experience, by allowing us to incorporate features such as real-time ticket scanning and checking in, as well as augmented reality of McLaren’s garage bringing it to the forefront of leading technology,”said Jon Carney at Marvellous.

“The Guest Hospitality app also gives the guests live information at their fingertips including a circuit map and driver and constructor standings. This process will be used at Silverstone as well as the remaining Grand Prix events.”
