Hackers have gained accessed to a McDonald’s database, which contains personal information, such as email addresses and birth dates of customers who signed up on its websites and promotions.

According to Reuters, McDonald’s computer systems are operated by an email database management firm hired by business partner Arc Worldwide.

The fast-food giant said the breach did not affect social security numbers, credit card information or financial data.

There will be an investigation by law enforcement authorities and McDonald’s is working with Arc and its database management firm to find out how it happened.

McDonald’s did not release the number of customers affected nor did it reveal the name of the firm.
