Microsoft Surface Pro 2

Microsoft’s Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablet computers featuring its latest operating systems are now available online and in stores, with a range of accessories to be filled out in the new year.

The Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 devices were first revealed last month. The former is it’s new RT device, sporting Windows RT 8.1, while the later comes packing Windows 8.1 Pro.

Both tablets are now available through Microsoft directly and from Currys, PC World and Harvey Norman stores nationwide, as well as their respective online stores.

For a 10.6-inch ClearType full-HD display, Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, 10-hour battery, 5MP rear camera, 3.5MP front-facing camera and more in a thinner and lighter package than the original Surface RT, the Surface 2 starts at  €439.

The Surface Pro 2 steps it up with a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor and up to 75 per cent longer battery life than the Surface Pro. Various configurations of RAM and storage are available (though the 512GB option will be limited at first) starting at €899.

This initial launch brings the Surface and Surface Pro 2 to 21 markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Both devices will then reach China early next month.

New accessories joining the Surface ecosystem today include the Touch Cover 2, Type Cover 2 , and Wireless Adapter for Typing Covers. The range will be broadened in early 2014 when the Power Cover, Docking Station for Surface Pro, Car Charger with USB and Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition become available in all markets.
