Microsoft’s Surface tablets will see general release on 26 October

30 Jul 2012

Microsoft’s annual report has revealed that its Surface tablets will launch alongside Windows 8 on 26 October.

The report, submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission says, “The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012. At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”

This applies to the Windows RT tablets running on ARM, with the Surface Pro following about 90 days later.

While the annual report has confirmed the release of the devices, the pricing still remains a mystery, which means retailers taking pre-orders will have to continue to rely on guesswork.
