More iPhone rumours – slide-out keyboard and 4-inch screen?

Yet more iPhone rumours have surfaced, including claims the iPhone 5 may have a bigger screen, a slide-out keyboard and longer battery life.

A Taiwanese website translated by Apple Insider claimed Apple has built three prototype models of the iPhone 5 to evaluate, with one including a physical slide-out keyboard.

Another looks similar to an iPhone 4, only with a better camera and a longer battery life.

Apple Insider noted this website has had its fair share of hits and misses, so the rumours should not be taken as gospel just yet.

In other iPhone rumour-mill news, DigiTimes reported that “upstream component suppliers” said the next iPhone will change the screen size to 4 inches, more akin to many of the Android devices on the market today. The iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch screen.

The same site also reported the next iPhone will utilise an ARM Cortex A9-based A5 processor.

These rumours follow previous sources claiming Apple is also working on a budget iPhone to compete with lower-level Android phones. The latest information claims the phone will have an edge-to-edge screen and voice navigation.

Apple is set to announce the next iPad quite soon, which is probably why the number of rumours on its upcoming devices has shot up. It’ll be interesting to see what’s true and what’s false when the company finally reveals all.
