Netflix ‘Just for Kids’ arrives on PS3

12 Mar 2012

Video-streaming service Netflix has launched its new Just for Kids section on the PlayStation 3, which offers a selection of child-friendly movies and TV shows for the console.

The Just for Kids section lets children and families browse and watch a selection of movies and films suitable for children aged 12 and under from their PlayStation 3. Titles available on the service include Pingu, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bridge To Terabithia and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

The section was available on other formats since August 2011 on Netflix in the US before Netflix arrived in the UK and Ireland at the start of this year. Along with the PS3 version, it’s accessible on PC, Mac, Nintendo Wii and Apple TV and it will arrive on the Xbox 360 and tablets later this year.

Netflix members with a PS3 console can select the ‘Just for Kids’ section to access the content. They can choose content labelled under their favourite characters, such as Sonic, Thomas the Tank Engine and Johnny Test. They can also find content which fits under genres aimed at children’s interests, such as superheroes, princesses and dinosaurs.

Video descriptions are written simply to ensure that children understand what each show is about. The service also offers content personalised for the viewer based on tastes and favourites.
