The iPad rumour mill is kicking off again, with sources saying the next iPad will be available in three to four months. Previous reports said the next iPad could appear in February.
DigiTimes reports that makers in the supply chains have begun delivering parts and components for the new tablets to OEM contractors.
They are also reportedly beginning to reduce components for the iPad 2, as Apple makes the shift to the next-generation tablet. Production of the iPad 2 may remain at 14m-15m units until the end of 2011. This could decline to 4m-5m units at the beginning of 2012.
Foxconn Electronics may begin manufacturing the next iPad in January and will boost production in February.
Last week, a Citi analyst claimed the next iPad will be unveiled in February, citing “several sources”. This could coincide with the reveal of the rumoured Samsung Android 4.0 tablet at 2012 Mobile World Congress.
Of course, nothing is certain until Apple sends invitations for its press event to unveil the next iPad. In 2011, the iPad 2 was revealed at the beginning of March and was available internationally by the end of that month.
