O2 confirms BlackBerry Z10 to go on sale 1 March

O2 has confirmed that the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone will go on sale in Ireland on 1 March. The new touchscreen device represents a new departure for the BlackBerry brand and a serious bet on its future.

As reported first by Siliconrepublic.com, the device will go on sale in Ireland on 1 March. It will be sold exclusively in Ireland by O2 for the first four weeks.

The device is the first BlackBerry smartphone powered by the new BlackBerry 10 platform and is HSPA+ and LTE-enabled.

The Z10 has a 4.2-inch screen and a resolution of 356 pixels per inch and features a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and is expandable to 64GB of additional storage via its memory card slot.

The device comes with a high-density pixel screen and also features a micro HDMI out port for presentations as well as NFC to support mobile payments and data sharing.

The device, available in black, will cost €229 on the O2 Choice 18-month contract and €559 on prepay.

O2 has revealed that the BlackBerry Z10 is available to pre-order from its online store.
