Office Live Workspace to integrate with SkyDrive

14 May 2010

Microsoft has announced it is upgrading Office’s online file sharing service Office Live Workspace and integrating it into the free Windows Live SkyDrive service.

“You will get many of the same capabilities you get today in Office Live Workspace – with some exciting new features, such as the Office Web Apps,” said Sam Sengupta, principal group manager for Microsoft Office Live Workspace, on the official Office Live blog.

Added to this, users will get Windows Live SkyDrive’s 25 GB of storage space, contact lists, calendars and groups.

Right now, Office Live Workspace is still operating as is but users will be notified when the upgrade is available. Also, for those with Office 2010, Office Web Apps is available but will not be free for all those with a Windows Live account until a later date.

This update will possibly happen around 15 June when Office 2010 becomes available to the general public.
