RIM’s BlackBerry roadmap for 2013 has been leaked. A document purporting to be the roadmap suggests there will be a 4G PlayBook and new handsets codenamed London, Nashville, Blackforest and Naples.
According to BlackBerry-based blog BlackberryOS.com, RIM plans to launch BlackBerry 10 in Europe three to four weeks ahead of its launch in the US. The launch is expected to take place in the first week of January. Such timing sounds odd because the Consumer Electronics Show takes place around that time in Las Vegas and it makes more sense to launch it there.
A 4G PlayBook codenamed Winchester will launch in the fourth quarter of this year followed by two smartphones, a touchscreen codenamed London and a QWERTY-based smartphone codenamed Nevada will launch in the first quarter.
A BlackBerry 10 update for the PlayBook is expected between the first and second quarters of 2013.
According to the report, a new RIM tablet computer codenamed Blackforest will debut in the third quarter of next year, the document indicates.
