Roxxxy is world’s first robot (ahem) girlfriend

Whilst we were busy being wowed by all the gadgets at CES last week, another convention in Las Vegas was engaging audiences with some high tech of its own: Roxxxy, not exactly a robot girlfriend but a human-shaped robot sex toy.

Douglas Hines, president of Roxxxy manufacturer TrueCompanion, unveiled the unusual robot at the Adult Entertainment Exposition, but far from being a fully functioning robot companion Roxxxy cannot walk or independently move her limbs – she has three “inputs” and is apparently good at listening.

Hines said of his anatomically correct creation: “She’s a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person.”

Roxxxy has been in development for almost two decades, according to TrueCompanion, and has a mechanical heart that powers a cooling system beneath the lifelike synthetic flesh exterior.

While the display model sported a dark brown wig and scanty negligee, Hines said that Roxxxy comes in different hair and skin colours and different-sized assets.

“She can’t vacuum, she can’t cook, but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean.” Lets just hope there aren’t any software glitches or hardware malfunctions during operation and if you see a secondhand one up for sale on eBay you’re probably best avoiding.
