Royal website back up after visitors crash it following baby news

4 Dec 2012

The official website for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is now back up and running after an apparent flood of visitors to the site caused it to crash after Buckingham Palace announced the couple are expecting their first child.

DukeandDuchessofCambridge.org only launched two months ago.

“Due to popular demand this page is temporarily unavailable,” read a message on the website for Prince William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton.

News of the pregnancy emerged yesterday, after the duchess was admitted to a central London hospital with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. She is expected to remain hospitalised for several days.

The message on the royals’ website stated the duchess is less than 12 weeks pregnant.

The pregnancy news has also caused ‘Kate Middleton’ to become a trending topic on Twitter.
