‘S’ for subtle: HTC reveals its latest smartphone, the One M8s

3 Apr 2015

Hot on the heels of the HTC One M9 flagship smartphone, HTC has followed this up with the HTC One M8s device that sits in between the M9 and its predecessor the M8.

The device is practically identical to the M8 with the same chassis and 5-inch screen, but the two key differences are in the processor, battery and the camera.

Compared with the HTC One M8, the new M8s comes with two quad core Snapdragon processors, beefing up the processing power from 2.26GHz to 2.8GHz – to all intents and purposes, making the HTC One M8s an octo core device versus a quad core device.

The battery has been improved from 2600 mAh to 2840 mAh.

And the camera is the most improved aspect of the M8s, ramping up from a 4.0MP rear facing UltraPixel sensor to a 13MP rear facing main camera and a 5MP front facing camera.

The HTC One M8s will initially be available in Gunmetal Grey from Vodafone starting next week with other operators to follow soon after, as well directly from HTC from the beginning of April.

“The HTC One M8s combines the quality ergonomics and design of the award-winning HTC One M8 with great sound and photo features to deliver an outstanding user-experience at a premium level,” said Peter Frølund, UK and Ireland Vice-President, HTC.

“What really sets the HTC One M8s apart is its design and build. We created the smartphone with comfort in mind – it’s not only a pleasure to look at, but also feels great and fits perfectly into the hand.”
