Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Tab 3 Kids which comes with the educational tools and safety features parents would expect, as well as a few useful additions.

The device, which will be available in Korea in early September before going out to the rest of the world, comes with a Time Management feature that allows parents to set specific periods of use.

Pre-loaded content includes educational, games, entertainment and e-book apps, and parents can decide what apps they want kids to have access to via the Application Manager.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids also comes with a Kids Case featuring a child-friendly grip, multiple stand options, as well as a C Pen that has drawing capabilities without the possibility of leaving marks on other objects.

The tablet computer comes with a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 3-megapixel front-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel rear-facing camera.

“It’s no secret that kids are using technology more than ever before,” said JK Shin, CEO and head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics.

“We saw an opportunity to create a device just for kids that provides them with an intuitive, fun and kid-friendly user experience filled with rich, interactive and educational content that parents will love.”
