Samsung has revealed specs and details of the Galaxy S4 Mini, a compact version of the recently unveiled Galaxy S4. The device will be coming to the UK and Ireland in the coming weeks.

The device comes with a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display and weighs 107 grams.

The smartphone also comes with a 1.7GHz dual core processor and supports many of the same features enjoyed on the larger 5-inch Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 Mini comes with a 1.9-megapixel front-facing HD camera and an 8-megapixel HD camera at the rear.

Special features include Sound&Shot, which stores sounds and images together; Panorama shot, which takes a full view of what you are seeing; and Story Album, which arranges photos in a smart format.

Another feature is WatchON, an IR remote which transforms the device into a remote control for your home entertainment systems, including TV and set-top boxes.

The S4 Mini will be available in two colours – White Frost and Black Mist – and in terms of connectivity will be available in 4G LTE, a 3G version and a 3G dual SIM version.

Samsung hasn’t revealed shipping dates except to say the devices will be available in “due course.” The Korean technology giant will be holding a big reveal for the Galaxy and ATIV device families on Thursday, 20 June, in London.

“Demand for the Galaxy S4 has been phenomenal since it launched in April and we hope to build on this success with the Galaxy S4 Mini,” said Simon Stanford, vice-president of Samsung’s UK and Ireland IT & Mobile division.

“This new handset is the ideal smartphone companion for anyone who wants a compact device packed with innovation.”
