After much build-up, Samsung’s latest flagship range, the Galaxy S6 and its curvier sibling the S6 Edge, are now available to buy in Ireland.

Making their debuts at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are finding themselves in a battle with fellow Asian Android phone manufacturer HTC, which has also launched its latest version of its flagship phone, the HTC One M9.

The phones’ launch certainly comes during troubling times for the South Korean manufacturer, given that earlier this week the company announced that it is anticipating a 30pc year-on-year drop in its operating profits and, as a result, is hedging a lot on the success of its two new phones.

The company has also had to come out and defend against accusations that its S6 Edge phone is easily bendable, something that the company has denied, stating that the bending test used on the phone applied more pressure than is considered normal.

Regardless, the two 5.1in phones are due to garner a lot of interest here in Ireland and abroad with their octa-core, 64bit processors and high-res 577 pixels per square inch resolutions.

They also boast fast-charging times, achieving 40pc after 10 minutes and come in three storage sizes: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
