Twitter Android app supports push notifications, multiple accounts

14 Jul 2011

Twitter has updated its Android app to include push notifications and multiple accounts.

The update will bring the Android Twitter app up to speed with the features on its iPhone counterpart.

Push notifications will let the user receive Twitter updates regardless of what they are doing on the phone. Users can activate this feature in their account settings by selecting “automatic refresh” and then choosing to receive updates for tweets, @mentions and direct messages.

The updated Android app will now support multiple Twitter accounts without need to log out.

Other updates include the appearance of homescreen widgets and bug fixes.

The new Twitter app is available on the Android Market.
