Twitter revealed today that it has now more than 200m monthly active Twitter users. This is an increase of 60m – or 42pc – on the 140m monthly active users it confirmed in March.
Twitter tweeted: “There are now more than 200M monthly active @twitter users. You are the pulse of the planet. We’re grateful for your ongoing support!”
According to measurement service Twopcharts there are now 637.3m registered Twitter accounts in total.
Registered accounts are not quite the same as monthly active users – aka the people who use the service regularly – so are not quite the same barometer of success. But it means that just under a third of registered accounts are active every month.
The measurement estimates that Twitter will hit the 700m registered user milestone by the end of February 2013.
