Toshiba announced new tech products, including a tablet device, two HD camcorders, a media hard drive and extended support for its 3D laptop.
Toshiba FOLIO 100
Toshiba has entered the tablet computing ring, with its offering of the 25.7cm (10.1-inch) Toshiba FOLIO 100, weighing 760g and 14mm thick.
It runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform and offers an SD card slot, a HDMI connector, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
It includes video chat, equipped with a 1.3MP front-facing camera. Toshiba said that 3G support will be launched with it later in the year.
FOLIO 100 supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and features the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
Toshiba said the tablet can run for up to seven hours and offers 16GB of storage. The tablet can support up to 32GB of space on SDHC memory cards.
The tablet supports external playback of HD video on HD-ready TV screens and comes with a variety of pre-installed apps, such as the Opera Mobile web browser, FBReader e-reader, Document To Go office suite and Evernote.
The Toshiba FOLIO 100 will be available from October 2010.
Camileo S30 and P20
Toshiba also launched two new camcorders, the Camileo S30 and the Camileo P20.
Both models capture 1,920 x 1,080p HD video and offer an adjustable 7.6cm (3-inch) touch sensitive screen.
They also have a 10x digital zoom and image stabilisation to prevent blurry images. They can also support SD cards of up to 64GB.
The S30 is 19mm thick and take 8MP still photos. It can instantly adapt to different exposure levels to give the best results.
It comes in black, dark blue, burgundy red, raspberry and silver.
The P20 captures 5MP still photos and offers a slim, compact design.
Both models have YouTube and Picasa upload software.
The S30 is available from January 2011. The P20 is available from October 2010.
Toshiba StorE TV+
The StorE TV+ is an external hard drive that allows users to store and play HD video, photographs or music content directly to a television over HDMI.
It features wireless connectivity and is compatible with most image and audio codecs.
It offers up to 2TB of storage and comes with a remote control. The StorE TV+ also has an integrated three-in-one card reader.
The Toshiba StorE TV+ is available from September 2010.
Extra 3D support for Satellite A665
An update has been added to Toshiba’s 3D ready laptop, the Satellite A665, which includes a 2D to 3D image conversion application.
It also provides support for Blu-ray 3D discs and allows 3D content to be streamed on 3D-ready TVs.
The software must be downloaded to avail of these updates.
