Waterproof and disinfectable iPhone and iPad covers to woo healthcare workers

13 Jul 2012

Healthcare professionals who are using touchscreen devices on the job can now protect their iPhones and iPads from water and contamination with a new and transparent form-fitting skin.

SEAL SHIELDS polyurethane covers have been designed to make iPhones and iPads waterproof, washable and disinfectable.

Touchscreen devices are increasingly prevalent in hospitals, said Bradley Whitchurch, Seal Shield CEO. However, they have been found to pose a cross contamination infection risk for patients and practitioners.

“There is increasing evidence to support the contribution of the environment to disease transmission, and that we pick up pathogens at the same level by touching the environment as we do by touching the patient,” said University of North Carolina professor, Dr William Rutala.

Whitchurch said healthcare practitioners are demanding solutions which not only protect their devices from scratches, but also from viruses and bacteria.

SEAL SHIELDS are reusable and recyclable and are priced from US$19.99. They are available internationally through major retailers and distributors for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the latest iPad.
