Xbox offers DJs and VJs a chance to win half-hour gig at Oxegen

6 May 2009

An Xbox competition is calling on all aspiring DJs and VJs to create their own original music remix. The winner will be given a half-hour gig at Oxegen on the Xbox LIVE Stage in front of thousands of screaming fans.

Boasting a massive 46 sq metres, high-quality LED screen, the Xbox Live Stage will become a focal point for festival-goers as it will feature live performances of VJ and DJ sets from the likes of MTV’s Eclectic Method, Arveene, Mickey Dee, Spin’s Dave Davin and Mark Vity, with more to be announced.

The winner will also receive an Xbox Live Stage VIP Pack, containing Oxegen VIP passes, an Xbox Elite, Rock Band kit and festival kit.

“We are delighted to give upcoming DJs or VJs the opportunity to have their own slot live at Oxegen,” said Sarah Devitt, marketing manager, Xbox 360.

“This is a huge opportunity to find Ireland’s next great DJ or VJ, who will make a spectacular debut at Oxegen, Ireland’s best music festival, this summer!” she added.

Entrants need only email their remixes to vjs@xboxlivestage.com, where they will be judged by a team of experts including Arveene, Ireland’s No 1 DJ; Eclectic Method, the UK mash-up kings who helped pioneer the emerging art of audio-visual mixing; and Mark Vity of Ghost Visuals.

The remix for the competition must be between three and four minutes for DJs and 60 to 90 seconds long for VJs. All elements of the remix must be an original creation or available in the public domain – including audio tracks. Accepted video and audio formats include: .avi, .mov, .mp4, .wav and .mp3.

The closing date for receipt of entries is Friday, 19 June. For more information about this competition, please visit www.xboxlivestage.com.
