IBAT College has opened its new third-level education campus IBAT House overlooking the Liffey on Wellington Quay in Dublin.

The 16,000 sq-foot campus will hold more than 2,000 third-level full and part-time students from this September. It includes a penthouse library, a laptop bar, a dedicated MBA floor with a debating chamber, an auditorium and two IT labs.

Students will be offered HETAC and FETAC-approved degree and certificate courses on subjects such as business management, accountancy, computing and IT design.

IBAT College was founded by in 2004 and has another campus in Swords, Dublin. It was created by business people as opposed to academics, as IBAT College says it is focused on offering “real-world” education in sync with the requirements for the business and technology sectors.

“Higher education is now more important to our country than ever. If we are to make our way out of our economic difficulties, and I know that we can, we need a dynamic and highly skilled workforce for the 21st century,” said Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn.

“With 65pc of people currently going on to study at third level, we are also well on track to achieving the National Skills Strategy target of having 72pc participation rate in higher education by 2020. IBAT House in Temple Bar is a welcome addition to the range of choices now available in this sector.”

Enrolment is now open for September 2011 placements.
