The astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) are busy people, but every once in a while they take time out to show us how awesome space, and Earth, looks, with the help of Vines.
On Siliconrepublic.com, you’ve probably seen plenty of amazing pictures of space and Earth that just make you smile or ponder the very fabric of the universe, but for some time now, #SpaceVine has arguably been trumping the photos.
The six-second long looping clips have been used in the last few years by both NASA’s and the European Space Agency’s (ESA) astronauts in the last few missions to the ISS.
An honourable mention for being a contributor to #SpaceVine goes to the ESA’s Samantha Cristoforetti, who was featured last week when we discovered her space soundtrack that she listened to aboard the space station while performing a number of important scientific experiments.
But one of the most regular contributors to Vine during his mission was NASA astronaut Terry Virts, who captured some stunning storms above Earth that just put all other Vines to shame.
