The debut of Eircom’s new online learning space, StudyHub, got the X-Factor treatment as bubbly Dublin twins and former contestants John and Edward Grimes, aka, Jedward, helped launch the service, which is aimed at both Junior and Leaving Cert students.

This new portal, which contains educational content prepared by 34 teachers and focuses on 24 Junior and Leaving Cert subjects, is free and exclusive to Eircom customers on 3Mb or higher broadband.

What’s included

It has more than 400 hours of learning materials with more than 260 learning packs consisting of video lessons, lesson notes, MP3 audio version of the lesson and a video tutorial on model exam answers.

“Grinds can be expensive with many parents paying up to €40 per hour for each subject. However, with Eircom StudyHub, students can access 400 hours of educational content absolutely free,” said Gerry Culligan, director of consumer market, Eircom.

“The exam preparation modules are prepared by experienced teachers for Leaving and Junior Certificate students to help them revise for their exams in the comfort of their own homes,” he added.

Behind StudyHub

StudyHub is powered by eircomstudyhub.ie.

“Through StudyHub, Eircom is demonstrating its commitment to advance internet-based educational services in Ireland, for the benefit of Irish students and Irish families,” said John McDonnell, director of ExamSupport.

Eircom also launched its ‘Create a Blog’ competition, that invites all secondary students to write and submit a blog-style article that could win them €1,000 in the form of a third-level education bursary.
