IACT acquires Software Paths

5 Mar 2008

International Academy of Computer Training (IACT) has purchased IT training company Software Paths out of receivership.

The Software Paths website and brand name will be retained and set up as a separate division within IACT.

IACT was set up in Dublin in 1993 and currently employs 25 full-time staff and 25 contract staff. The company is based in Stephen’s Green in Dublin, where it has a new training centre with over 100 training desks.

Software Paths was set up in 1990. All four of its full-time staff will join IACT as a result of the acquisition.

“We are delighted to be working with the team from Software Paths who have provided excellent high-quality technical training since 1990. The range of additional courses we now offer greatly strengthens our training range in the .NET arena and we expect to see substantial expansion on the back of this acquisition,” said Shane Broadberry, director, IACT.

“We hope to grow quite a lot because we’ve a good synergy between the two companies. There was obviously some overlap in the courses we offered but we now have a big covering of the .NET area, which we’re quite excited about – it’s hard to get people with these skills.”

IACT aims to develop a lot of new courses and will particularly focus on SharePoint, database development, Oracle, SQL Server and web training.

Software Paths specialises in the Microsoft VB, C# .NET and SQL server arena and offers over 80 technical and bespoke courses. It has a wide client base throughout Ireland.
