Vodafone Ireland has made two new appointments to its senior management team. Dave Boorman has been named chief financial officer in succession to Niall O’Sullivan, who has moved to Vodafone in Portugal. Tim Yates, meanwhile, takes up the new role of marketing director.

Boorman has been with Vodafone since 1997 and has held a number of positions within both Vodafone Group and Vodafone UK. Most recently, he was international financial controller of group operations with a specific focus on operational performance and benchmarking. He also held a senior position in Vodafone Europe, playing a significant integration role following the AirTouch and Mannesmann transactions. Prior to joining Vodafone in 1997, Boorman spent a number of years with publisher Reed Elsevier Plc.

Tim Yates joins Vodafone Ireland from One2One/T-Mobile UK where he was commercial director. In this role, according to a Vodafone statement, Yates helped drive significant growth in both the customer base and shareholder value, culminating in the purchase of the business by Deutsche Telekom. Previously, he worked for a number of companies in the FMCG market including Guinness, Faberge, Boots and Braun. As marketing director, he will oversee a multi-million euro advertising and promotion budget.

Vodafone is Ireland’s leading mobile phone operator with a customer base of 1.74 million and more than 1,500 employees. Vodafone holds a 56pc share of the market in Ireland.
