140 jobs coming to Galway with Valeo Vision Systems

Valeo Vision Systems, an automotive parking and manoeuvring system supplier, is expanding its operation in Galway with 140 new R&D and operations jobs to be created by the end of 2015.

When these positions are filled, they will take the company’s total number of staff to 750, with 350 of those jobs to be in its R&D division to develop components, integrated systems and modules for the automotive industry, particularly for reducing CO2 emissions.

The company is one of the largest automotive technology companies in the world with 123 plants, 20 research centres and 35 development centres and it employs 75,300 people in 29 countries worldwide. In 2012, Valeo generated revenue of €11.8bn and invested €1bn in research and development.

Commenting on the company’s expansion on the west coast of Ireland, Fergus Moyles, director of Valeo Vision Systems said, “This investment is a result of the market response to our innovative products and reflects the continued and growing demand in driving assistance vision systems”.

Meanwhile, Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland said, “Valeo Vision Systems is an excellent example of a company that continues to undergo significant transformation in Ireland. Valeo’s decision to expand its workforce by a further 140 people is great news for the west region and for Ireland, creating top-level career opportunities in Tuam and Galway.”

This week has seen more than 800 jobs announced in Ireland, with 400 alone coming from eight companies in Dublin, Cork and Galway.
