250 new jobs as Elder Scrolls creator ZeniMax expands in Galway

Galway received a 250-jobs bonanza today with the news that ZeniMax, the company behind fantasy game The Elder Scrolls, is to establish a major customer service centre in the city.

The company is to hire 70 French speakers, 30 German speakers, as well as 150 English speakers to support players of its popular online game.

ZeniMax created 180 jobs in Galway in 2011.

The Elder Scrolls was first released in 1994 and has endured to become one of the world’s most popular open-world games, alongside other games in the series, such as Oblivion and Skyrim.

The Maryland-headquartered company is working with recruitment firm Kelly to hire the staff for its European headquarters in Galway.

The company is one of the largest privately held gaming companies in the world and employs 600 people.
