12 May 2010

High-tech manufacturing is making its return to the midlands of Ireland. Mirror Controls International is to consolidate its European manufacturing operations into its Irish plant in Manorhamilton, Leitrim.

The move will generate 50 new jobs and the expansion of the existing facility. This investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Production is set to commence mid-summer.

Mirror Controls International (MCI) is the leading global supplier of motorised actuators for exterior automotive mirror systems. Mirror Controls International Ireland Ltd. has supplied the automotive industry since 1978 and supplies products to all major car manufacturers and currently employs 110 people.

“Today’s announcement is excellent news for Mirror Controls International Ireland,” the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Batt O’Keeffe said today.

“It is a significant win for the Irish operation, further embedding the Irish operation’s role within the company’s global business, providing excellent career opportunities for people in the northwest region.

“It is an excellent example of the viability of Ireland’s manufacturing sector and its future importance to the Irish economy and demonstrates that Ireland maintains its reputation as an attractive location in Europe for high quality overseas manufacturing” he added.
