A new report from The Health Education Report (HEA) suggests that 1-in-4 students from Limerick Institute of Technology drop out after one year of study.

The HEA report – The Study of Progression in Higher Irish Education – reveals that at 23pc, Limerick IT’s drop out rate stands out as the highest among third level institutions.

The study also found that students repeating first year are far less likely to finish their studies.

The report was published following the first ‘World Statistics Day’ –  a celebration of the service provided by the global statistical system – declared by the United Nations (UN) to emphasise the role reliable impartial public information and public trust in official statistics play.
