The viagogo Group is doubling its workforce in Ireland after opening a new operations centre in Limerick.
The viagogo Group operates viagogo.com, one of the world’s largest online ticket marketplaces. Already employing 100 people in Ireland, the new facility will bring the total Irish workforce to 200 over the next three years.
The operations centre, located in Kilmurry Business Centre, will host positions in customer services, sales, finance, operations and software development – indeed candidates for the latter are already being recruited.
“We opened in a temporary location in Limerick last year and were overwhelmed by the level of local talent and the support from organisations such as the IDA,” said Oliver Wheeler, global head of communications for the viagogo Group.
“We already employ 100 people in Limerick and, now that our new purpose-built operations centre is ready, we plan to hire at least a hundred more over the next three years.”
The IDA, which supports the jobs increase, commented on Limerick as a burgeoning technology hub, thanks to the local skillbase and announcements such as viagogo’s.
“The available skillbase, a deciding factor in viagogo’s expansion plans, is a huge plus in Limerick’s favour,” says Martin Shanahan, CEO of the IDA.
“Limerick’s recent success in attracting foreign investment is a great example of the results that can be achieved when the business community from across the region joins together to show what great opportunities there are to invest here in Limerick. I wish viagogo all the very best for the future as they cut the ribbon today on their new operations centre.”
