Applied Systems will take on a total of 50 IT professionals by 2021, bringing an additional £1.3m of salaries to the Northern Irish capital.
Cloud-based software provider Applied Systems will take on 50 new hires in Belfast by 2021 as part of a strategy to expand its customer base in the UK.
Applied Systems is a Chicago-headquartered cloud software company that creates and licenses software for global insurance providers. It operates in marketplaces in the US, Canada, Republic of Ireland and UK.
The firm acquired Belfast-based Relay Software in 2016. It now plans to establish a new research and development centre at its Gasworks offices to support its growth strategy.
The 50 additional IT staff (19 of which are already in place) will be integral to helping Applied Systems realise this growth plan. They will be involved in developing and supporting Applied Systems’ solutions, including the establishment of an e-commerce centre of excellence.
“The team in Belfast will be central to adapting, delivering and expanding our global cloud-based products to the UK marketplace and will enable us to deliver ‘follow the sun’ customer support to our customer base worldwide,” said Reid French, CEO of Applied Systems.
“The availability of talented, young engineers along with the supportive, established relationships with local universities and Invest NI made Northern Ireland a natural fit for us to grow our business.”
Invest NI has offered Applied Systems around £325,000 to support its employment and training activities.
Jeremy Fitch, Invest NI’s executive director of business and sector development, welcomed the announcement and stated that this investment would add an additional £1.3m in salaries to the economy.

“This investment by Applied Systems demonstrates the company’s confidence in our local skills base and further emphasises the region’s reputation for excellence in this sector.”
