The number of biopharma jobs is constantly on the up-and-up, and now the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) is to host a careers event in Dublin on 14 May that will feature some of the country’s largest employers.
Much like the ever-present demand for IT professionals in Ireland to fill jobs at some of the world’s leading tech companies, biopharma jobs are another key career area calling out for graduates and experienced applicants, with the industry having invested approximately $9bn here in the last decade alone.
Given that nine of the world’s largest top 10 pharma companies have a base here, if you’re looking for a biopharma role it might be worth paying a visit to NIBRT’s centre on the University College Dublin (UCD) campus on 14 May for a major careers event.
Hundreds of jobs created in less than one year
According to NIBRT, professionals, graduates, students and jobseekers will get the chance to meet with blue-chip biopharma employers, including AbbVie, Amgen, BioMarin, Bristol Myers Squibb, DPS Engineering, Eurofins Lancaster Labs, Life Science Consultants, MSD, PE Global, Pfizer, Regeneron and others.
The companies will have exhibition stands and give short presentations throughout the day.
Pfizer announced 130 jobs in the biopharma sector in October last year, while Amgen revealed in August that it had opened a new $300m facility in Dún Laoghaire, Dublin.
Another noteworthy partnership was announced in March when NIBRT signed a deal with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) to build a bioprocessing lab at the centre with a value of €1m, with the same biopharma company announcing it was to create 400 jobs for its new biologics plant at its Cruiserath facility in Dublin.
For those interested in the event, NIBRT says registration is free for attendees but, due to the high level of interest, advanced registration is required.
