Up to 6,000 jobseekers could descend on the Convention Centre Dublin this weekend (11 March) as Career Zoo opens its doors.
E-commerce, internet of things (IoT) and biopharma companies will play host to this year’s opening Career Zoo event, with Dublin’s Convention Centre expecting the arrival of several thousand jobseekers.
Both indigenous and multinational companies will be there, including some of the most active recruiters in Ireland at the moment.
Bristol-Myers Squibb, for example, is midway through its €1bn investment into a new biologics manufacturing facility in Dublin, and has filled around 200 of its 400-strong recruitment drive to date.
It will be joined by other biopharma companies such as Abbott, Takeda and Sanofi Genzyme, with Amgen on the lookout for life sciences professionals to join its base in Dún Laoghaire.
“This is our 13th Career Zoo and we are still adding new activities to the mix,” said Jackie Slattery, director of the event.
“Not only are there opportunities to meet leading employers and hear about the jobs they have on offer, but there are also talks and workshops on the latest trends and technologies in the world of work, and we have added a new a whole new interactive tech workshop area to the event this year too,” she said.
IoT company PTC will be looking to recruit people with experience in cloud software development, DevOps engineering and cloud architecture for their new Dublin-based research and development centre in Silicon Docks.
E-commerce firm Jet.com, software company Qualtrics and digital advertising firm Criteo will also be at Career Zoo, with Aspira, a local technology company, one of the many flying the Irish flag.
There will be workshops with a specific focus on diversity, and a main stage panel discussion with representatives from InterTech Ireland – an organisation encouraging LGBTQ diversity and inclusion in the tech sector.
“People can turn up and register at the event itself if they haven’t registered online in advance,” said Slattery. “This is not to be missed if you’re looking to meet some of Ireland’s most exciting employers and progress your career development.”
