We spoke to Marion Boland, head of post-award, programmes directorate, Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), about the career opportunities within the organisation and the broader science sector.
Boland attended the Career Zoo jobs fair on 13 September in the Convention Centre Dublin to promote the role SFI plays in the science sector in Ireland, while also connecting with potential candidates for open roles.
Career Zoo highlighted Ireland’s thriving life-sciences sector to its attendees, with its first-ever BioCluster Zone, which showcased opportunities in this industry.
Ireland is a top European location for life-sciences investment, with nine out of the top 10 pharma and bio-tech companies, and 18 biopharmaceutical plants, based in the country.
According to Career Zoo, the life-sciences sector in Ireland employs 25,000 people directly and its exports totalled €50.8bn in 2013.
