Career Zoo workshops will introduce tech jobseekers to the industry

3 Mar 2017

Jobseekers will get an interactive insight into some of the biggest sectors in tech at Career Zoo’s new workshops.

The first Career Zoo of 2017 will take place on Saturday 11 March, giving jobseekers a chance to meet leading employers and find new opportunities.

The event is returning to The Convention Centre in Dublin, providing networking opportunities, informative panel discussions and industry-leading speakers.

This year, there will be a major focus on sectors and companies involved in internet of things (IoT), biotech and deep data.

In addition, Career Zoo has announced a selection of exclusive tech workshops that will take place on the day around the areas of cybersecurity, big data, IoT and F# programming.

The workshops are aimed at jobseekers who are somewhat experienced in those areas, with the exception of the ‘Introduction to F#’ workshop, run by a senior software engineer at Jet.com.

‘It’s another way to connect the candidates with the exhibitors’

“[That one is] aimed at people who know about programming but may not be familiar with F#,” said tech community events organiser Vicky Twomey-Lee.

She said the workshops are very interactive; for example, the cybersecurity workshop ‘Game of Threats’ run by PwC simulates a cyber breach where two teams make decisions on what the other team does.

“It’s another way to connect the candidates with the exhibitors,” said Twomey-Lee. “It’s a great way to network in the environment and be able to talk one-to-one with the companies.”

At the IoT workshop, PTC will feature a live demonstration of how to build applications using the ThingWorx platform.

A workshop on big data will give participants some insight into big data infrastructures from engineers at Criteo.

Twomey-Lee said these new workshops will give jobseekers insights into how these companies work and what they do.

“Also, bringing together all the people with the relevant skills in one room would be very beneficial for the companies.”

When the workshop ends, interested participants can continue their conversations with the exhibitors if they so wish.

The workshops have limited availability, with just 30 places for each one available. Interested participants must register online prior to the event to secure a place.
