Edel Flynn will take on the role of interim CEO of the Digital Hub following the retirement of Philip Flynn after 11 years in the role.
Edel Flynn has served as chief operations officer of the Digital Hub for the past six years.
The Digital Hub cluster, which today comprises 80 companies employing 700 people, is due to come under the auspices of Dublin City Council this year. The city council has plans to develop Dublin as a hub for digital and green enterprises.
Since its founding in 2003, it has supported more than 2,000 jobs and 170 enterprises.
It has also played a role in regenerating the Liberties area, engaging closely with the local community and opening up opportunities for schools and local people in terms of the digital economy.
Commenting on Flynn’s appointment, Leonard Donnelly, chairperson of the board of the DHDA, said, “On behalf of the staff, clients and board of the Digital Hub Development Agency, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Edel Flynn to the position of interim CEO. Concurrently, we would like to wish Philip Flynn – the retiring CEO – the very best with his future endeavours, and acknowledge the fantastic contribution he has made to the DHDA over the past decade.”
One of Flynn’s first responsibilities will be to oversee the transition of the Digital Hub Development Agency into Dublin City Council.
“Over the coming months, I look forward to continuing to work closely with both the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and Dublin City Council to ensure the continued future success of the Hub,” Flynn said.
