Enterprise Ireland places huge focus on addressing talent gap (video)

18 Sep 2015

This past weekend, Career Zoo 10 drew thousands of jobseekers to Dublin’s Convention Centre, where they hoped to speak to employers about working in Ireland’s exciting tech industry.

At Career Zoo, Ireland’s largest tech recruitment event, Siliconrepublic.com spoke to Leo McAdams, Divisional Manager for Software and International Services with Enterprise Ireland, who talked to us about the big issues facing the Irish tech scene.

McAdams discussed the disparity between the number of tech jobs in Ireland, and the number of qualified employees available to fill them. He made clear that, for Enterprise Ireland, closing that talent gap is of significant importance, with the organisation supporting programmes that will create indigenous talent and make it easier for talent to move here from elsewhere.

McAdams also touched on entrepreneurship as a viable option for those seeking to get into the competitive tech industry. He spoke about Enterprise Ireland’s support of start-ups, accelerators and seed venture capital funds, and said the successes of existing entrepreneurs is the clearest metric of the possibilities arising from entrepreneurship.
