Financial services firm FinTrU bringing 160 jobs to Belfast

24 Jan 2017

Financial services business FinTrU is creating 160 new jobs in Belfast over the next five years, supplementing an already significant workforce with added professionals and graduates.

Following the opening of a new 17,600 sq ft Belfast HQ, FinTrU is looking to build a team of 240 in Northern Ireland over the next five years.

Supplemented by £1.5m in governmental support, the new building is a three-storey facility in the Gasworks area, completely refurbished into a “high-spec office space”.

Delighted

“We’re delighted with progress to date at our Belfast centre of excellence and indeed, completed the recruitment of our 80-strong workforce nine months ahead of schedule,” said Darragh McCarthy, FinTrU’s CEO.

The 80 staff referenced were announced in 2014, with the latest expansion to see the business recruit 60 experienced roles and 100 graduate roles by 2021 to support its continued growth.

“The continued impact of increased regulation and the ongoing emphasis on cost reduction within the financial services sector is creating scope for us to expand our client base,” he said.

“This expansion will allow us to put additional resources in place to grow our service offering and capitalise on these business opportunities.

“The supply of talent in Northern Ireland, particularly at graduate level, is impressive and, coupled with the support from Invest NI and Assured Skills, it makes this region a highly attractive location to grow our company.”

Invest NI offered FinTrU more than £1m in supports for recruitment and training costs, with almost £500,000 provided by Northern Ireland’s Assured Skills programme for the company’s pre-employment training academy.

Welcoming the investment, Invest NI’s CEO Alastair Hamilton, said: “FinTrU is an ambitious enterprise with aggressive expansion plans and this recruitment drive underlines its confidence in Northern Ireland as an investment location.

“The 160 new roles to be recruited over the next five years will generate £4.2m annually in additional salaries and provide valuable jobs opportunities for graduates from a range of disciplines.

“The company is a strong contributor to our vibrant financial services sector and is reaping the benefits of our knowledgeable and engaged talent base to leverage growth opportunities in its key markets.”
