Health services provider Northgate is to double its workforce in Ireland and create 150 IT and support roles over the next three years at a new facility in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
Recruitment for the new jobs is expected to being in early 2014.
RTÉ reported the company as having said it chose Co Mayo as a base due to the availability of a skilled workforce, and hopes it will attract employees who will stay with company long-term.
Details of Northgate’s expansion in Castlebar are to be revealed at a conference in Galway later today.
Northgate is a private company that specialises in public-service contract work. It has operations worldwide, and currently employs 100 people in Ireland.
The company operates a newborn screening programme for the HSE in maternity hospitals, and runs computer files management systems for other hospitals, RTÉ reported.
