The successor to Paul Otellini as CEO of Intel is Brian Krzanich, currently the company’s chief operating officer.
Krzanich will assume the role of CEO at Intel’s annual stockholders meeting on 16 May.
Outgoing CEO Otellini revealed his plans to step down from the helm of the chip giant in November.
Krzanich joined Intel in 1982 and has progressed through a series of technical and leadership roles at the semiconductor giant.
He was appointed COO in 2012, when he oversaw an organisation of more than 50,000 people spanning manufacturing, information technology, human resources, custom foundry and Intel’s China strategy.
Krzanich (52) has been selected for the CEO role after what Intel chairman Andy Bryant described as a “thorough and deliberate process”.
He said: “Brian is a strong leader with a passion for technology and deep understanding of the business. His track record of execution and strategic leadership, combined with his open-minded approach to problem solving has earned him the respect of employees, customers and partners worldwide.
“He has the right combination of knowledge, depth and experience to lead the company during this period of rapid technology and industry change,” Bryant said.
