8 Nov 2010

An Irish transport company has invested heavily in new technology and announced more than a dozen jobs over the next 18 months.

Irish freight and transport providing firm, The Pallet Network (TPN), made the announcement at its new logistics division in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

Its investment of more than €100,000 in new technology and infrastructure – TPN Hub Site Logistics -.will create five jobs straight away, according to Owen Cook, chairman of TPN.

Logistics investment

“The new logistics division will create five jobs immediately and at least seven additional jobs within 18 months. (The year) 2009 was one of the most difficult years for the transport sector in Ireland but TPN focused on becoming as lean as possible and this has allowed us to invest in our logistics division, which will offer new and existing customers the opportunity to have a variable cost for warehousing and distribution, which is the only way to operate in these challenging times.”

TPN Hub Site Logistics will be targeting Irish-based distributors, manufacturers, retailers and internet-based businesses that need their goods shipped from source, stored, picked and delivered.
