Irish company CityPOST to hire 180 new people

9 Jun 2011

Irish postal services company CityPOST is to create 180 jobs over the next year and a half, including some operations positions.

The majority of the new jobs will be based at CityPOST’s headquarters in Ballymount but some will be created at 32 regional handling centres across the country.

The group currently employs 188 people in Ireland and delivers to 950,000 homes every week. The new positions will be in mail sorting, delivery and collection, operations and administration.

Commenting on the announcement, managing director Ian Glass said: “CityPOST is in expansion mode and providing a real alternative to An Post.”

He added, “We have had a hugely successful year and are braced for even more growth. This sustainable growth has been carefully and meticulously planned for quite some time now.”

CityPOST, which was set up in Ireland in 1987, also has operations in Portugal, where it employs a staff of 120.

In addition, CityPOST expects to launch a consumer offering later this year, as well as an electric postal bike service to be rolled out in the coming weeks. This new collection and delivery service, to be established in business centres, is expected to provide an average 20pc saving for a company’s annual postal bill.
