Irish engineers in demand in Western Australia

An open day is being held in Limerick in July to highlight the range of job opportunities available in Western Australia, where there is currently a shortage of skills in many sectors.

The event titled ‘Give Jobs to the Irish’ is being organised by Australian recruitment firm TR7 Total Human Resources and is taking place in The Strand Hotel Limerick on 6 July.

TR7 is hoping to recruit 500 healthcare professionals and 500 engineering and trades people at the event.

In stark contrast to Irish unemployment figures which stand at 14.8pc, unemployment in Western Australia is at just 4.1pc, and this figure is expected to drop to a mere 2pc over the next two years.

“By 2017 in Western Australia, we will need 500,000 workers in the aged care sector alone. The need for qualified nurses in this sector is expected to quadruple. Whereas Irish graduates and experienced workers cannot find jobs at home in sectors such as nursing or construction, we are crying out for workers in these sectors to meet our growing needs,” said Shane Anderson, director, TR7.

TR7 offers step-by-step assistance throughout the visa and relocation process, as well as help settling into the Western Australian lifestyle. More information can be found here.
