Itron, a technology company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, is to create 40 jobs at its new Global Businesses Services centre in Cork.
Itron is a global company headquartered in the US, but has deep roots in Europe, including various manufacturing and professional centres located throughout Western and Eastern Europe.
The IDA-backed Cork Global Businesses Services centre is the product of the company’s strategic efforts to consolidate and centralise select compliance and accounting processes.
“After conducting an extensive search to find the best location for our new GBS centre, our project team determined that Ireland best suited our criteria and is the right fit for our company,” said Steve Helmbrecht, Itron’s executive vice-president and chief financial officer.
The company is seeking experienced professionals to join its Cork team in its new facility in City Gate Park, Mahon, Co Cork. Open positions will include accounting, financial controls and financial administration.
IDA Ireland chief executive Barry O’Leary said nine out of the 10 top US ICT companies have established strategic operations in Ireland.
“Itron Inc setting up in Cork contributes to this ICT cluster and enhances the profile of the southern region as a location of choice for international business activities.”
