Engine monitoring systems firm JMG Systems is creating 21 new jobs in Omagh with stg£80,000 in support from Invest Northern Ireland.
The firm provides engine monitoring systems from prototype development to full-scale systems for quarrying, recycling, air ground support and construction. It now has 72 employees.
“These new jobs will be a mix of engineering, production operatives and administrative support and offer high quality employment opportunities in an area that has been significantly affected by the global downturn. When in place they will contribute some stg£380,000 a year in salaries to the economy,” said Northern Ireland Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster.
“JMG has proactively responded to the downturn by investing in product development to diversify and target new markets.
“The additional staff will be required to help the company grow in export markets, provide additional customer support and increase the technical capability of the company to drive research and development,” said Foster.
The jobs have been created under the Invest NI Jobs Fund scheme, which aims to stimulate job creation in the region. The investment is part of the company’s growth plan, which will see it move into a new production facility next year.
“The support from Invest NI is allowing us to recruit immediately so that we are in a position to respond to an upturn in demand for our products, which we are anticipating,” said Joseph McGoldrick, managing director of JMG Systems.
