The vast majority of Irish IT professionals – some 83pc of them – say they are “confident” or “very confident” about their employability over the next 12 months and only a small percentage believe their employers will be letting staff go in the next 12 months.
The survey by ComputerJobs.ie found that only 6pc of IT engineers have seen their salaries decrease over the last 12 months. But 72pc feel they are either “underpaid” or “not sure” if they are being paid the “going rate.”

IT staff want ‘more respect’
Of the 20pc who said they are currently out of work, 100pc of these did not have a third-level qualification.
Job websites continue to be the No1 source for finding IT jobs. Some 67pc say they either “don’t rate” or are “not sure” of social media as a source for finding IT jobs.
When asked what employers need to do to keep their IT staff, 44pc said “more money”, 19pc said “more training” and 11pc said “more respect.”
As part of the survey’s Happiness Index, 94pc of IT professionals said they are either “very happy” or “happy enough” with their choice of career.
